Waterfall: A 20 ft cascading waterfall near the entrance beside the Mbagathi River—great for photos and relaxing moments

Natural Cave: A 33–37 m deep cave, once used by Mau Mau fighters and now home to bats—bring a flashlight to explore

Bamboo Grove: Riverside bamboo overhanging the river; visitors often rest on benches under the shade

Papyrus Swamp: A small wetland area rich in biodiversity and scenic beauty

Picnic & Campsite: Picnic site with benches, toilets, trash bins; overnight camping allowed (bring own gear); water and firewood provided

Flora & Fauna: Over 200 plant species, native trees, bamboo, butterflies, birdlife (~125+ species), and resident monkeys

🚶 Activities & What to Know
Trail hike: The 5 km loop trail is generally easy to moderate; takes ~1 hour to complete

Guided tours: Available—focus on birding, ecosystem, forest history, or Mau Mau heritage (book in advance via trail management)

Cycling: Bike rentals available onsite (~KES 500/hr) or bring your own bike

Archery: Soft-archery sessions (~KES 300/30 min) offered occasionally onsite

Camping & Picnics: Self-camping with own gear allowed; picnic spots available throughout the forest

No single-use plastics allowed to protect the environment; bring reusable bottles and food containers

Dogs and horses not permitted after July 2024 as per updated policy
